Charley’s Song Trilogy

A self-made boy—destined to heal an empire.

Charlotte “Charley” Beaumont is an 18-year-old transgender boy, struggling to survive under the conservative rule of Imperial Dorya. When an otherworldly storm threatens the Empire’s food source, revolution erupts across the land. With the help of an ancient goddess, Charley discovers he can wield the power of the storm, and must use his gifts to lead a revolution before famine claims the lives of everyone he loves. Yet this revolt can’t be won through destruction. Charley must heal his heart and forgive his greatest enemy to fulfill his destiny.

Set in 1848, during the Age of Revolutions, Charley’s Song introduces a world of mythology, magic, social and political upheaval, and personal transformation, in the confines of a 19th century patriarchal society.

Inspired by the French Revolution, set in a diverse reimagining of 19th century Europe—amidst a class, race and gender-divided society, evocative of the Victorian Era, and blended with Greek, Celtic, and Slavic folklore—this ensemble cast of nobles, peasants, sorcerers, soldiers, and gods guide readers through themes of self-power, spiritual and gender transformation, healing trauma, imperialism, and rising against oppression.

Charley’s Song is unique from other book series in that it casts transgender, intersex, and non-binary characters in leading roles, inspiring teens across the world, who rarely get to see themselves as humanity’s heroes.

This series is sure to win over fans of books such as The Traitor Baru Cormorant and Les Miserables, and anyone who loves mythic fiction with a historical, queer twist.

The first book in this trilogy ‘Winds of Rebellion’ is set to be published in winter 2024 after a Kickstarter this summer. To stay up to date with the latest news and how to grab your copy, subscribe below!
